Western Australia features vast natural salt pans. In most years they’re just shimmering white plains with a fringe of salt and heat tolerant trees perched on the banks. However when the rains do come, the lakes fill and become salty water seas. This painting is based on the many hundreds of lakes I’ve seen over the years in my time living in and visiting Western Australia.
